Experimental
Aircraft Examiner Services
FAA Designated
Experimental Aircraft Examiner Services are provided to Red Star
Aviation and to the aviation community at large as a volunteer
service by Mr. Dave Sutton. In this capacity, we are able to provide
flight tests in Experimental Aircraft to candidates located anywhere
in the USA. We are pleased to assist Candidates and their Instructors
to navigate the maze of regulations associated with these activities,
and we are equally pleased to assist in this area no matter if you
select our Examiner or any other with whom you wish to work. Our goal
is to find you the MOST QUALIFIED Examiner. If you wish us to provide
you with FAA Examiner services, we are pleased to arrange these
services, but our advice is not limited to recommending one
particular choice.
Our volunteer, Mr.
Sutton, takes time from his full time duties as a full time Falcon
2000EX-EASy and Falcon 900EX-EASy Pilot Instructor and Designated
Examiner to assist our efforts. Mr. Sutton works as a full time
Instructor and Pilot Examiner and holds USA and United Kingdom /JAA
Pilot Examiner Designations in the Falcon 50, Falcon 50EX, Falcon 900
Falcon, 900EX-EASy, Falcon 2000EX-EASy, and Falcon 900/900EX series
(JAA Only). In this capacity he performs over 100 pilot flight tests
annually. In addition to the full range of Falcon aircraft, he holds
type ratings in the Lear Jet series, Cessna Citation series,
Hawker-125 series, and the Gulfstream II/III series. In addition to
his work with civil warbird pilots and business jet pilots, he is
retained by the United States Naval Test Pilot School as a Safety
Pilot on a recurring basis and has been providing volunteer flight
training to the Warbird community for nearly 20 years.
Mr. Sutton holds
Designated FAA Examination Authority in the following types of
Experimental Aircraft: L-29, L-39, MiG-15, MiG-17, MiG-21, T-33,
Fouga CM-170, DH-100, DH-112, DH-115, NA-T28, and NA-P51. He can
perform flight tests in the other Experimental Aircraft for which he
holds personal ratings (CA-HA-200, Jet Provost Series, and All Makes
and Models of Single Engine Piston Powered Experimental Aircraft)
upon prior approval of the FAA and can provide initial and recurrent
instruction in all of those types on a routine basis. He volunteers, without
personal compensation, his services to the Warbird Community
at large and to Red Star Aviation in particular.
Mr. Sutton is an
FAA Accident Prevention Counselor, is a former Contributing Editor to
EAA Warbirds Magazine, and has contributed to Flying and Flight
Training magazines. He is a former Director of the Classic Jet
Aircraft Association. He is a Member of the Society of Experimental
Test Pilots and of both the Explorers Club and the American Polar Society.
Red Star Aviation
also works closely with several other FAA Designated Examiners, and
may be able to suggest an equally or more qualified examiner upon
request. Since we have no financial stake in any of these activities,
we feel free to recommend what is best for YOU, not what is best for US. |
